Since Matthew Flinders and his crew landed on Bribie Island in 1799, the landscape has changed significantly. To remember the good old days and discover the history of the only sand island connected to the mainland, take a walk along the Bongaree Walkabout. Starting and ending at the Bongaree Jetty, the path takes visitors around the foreshore area where historical landmarks and buildings can be discovered.
The Bongaree Walkabout tour takes about an hour to complete, but an idle stroll will take longer, particularly if you like to stop and take photos.
